My Development Journey
Gong Gi was an exciting challenge to develop, from designing precise mechanics to optimizing the game for WebGL. Inspired by Squid Game’s high-stakes mini-games, I aimed to create an intense yet engaging reflex challenge. Throughout development, I learned and applied various skills, including particle systems for interaction feedback and animations in Unity to create dynamic failure sequences like blood splats and gunshot effects. I also strengthened my understanding of basic data structures like lists and dictionaries for efficient game state management, while following good coding practices to ensure clean and maintainable code. Additionally, I focused on optimization techniques for WebGL, ensuring smooth performance and reducing load times for a seamless browser experience. To enhance player immersion, I incorporated audio and visual cues, cinematic failure animations and a post-game coffin reveal, teasing future projects.
